Black Shark FunCooler Pro, a gaming phone cooler

Is this the phone cooler ever mobile gamer needs?

There is a video on YouTube published in Black Shark channel showing FunCooler Pro Surface Temperature reaching astonishing temperature of -13.9°C from 10.2°C, within 10 minutes. If you haven't watched the video and you wish to, click here. This is very impressive but probably you will never achieve this temperature in your room even if it is not attached to your phone. The closest you will get is just the surface getting very moist and it is still very impressive.

The sole purpose of the Black Shark FunCooler Pro is to keep your phone cooler while gaming. In the box, the cooler only comes with type A to type C connector to power the cooler, as you have already guessed it, it doesn't have battery so it has to be connected to a power source at all time when using it. However, it can be powered using phone itself, as long as the connecting cable can support both mobile's and cooler's an I/O port.

How does it cool your phone? It has a system called thermoelectric cooling to cool down the part which is in contact with the phone. In short, it uses electric current to cool one side of the surface (this is the surface which is in contact with the phone) by transferring the heat to other surface (this is the surface which is in contact with the heat sink.) The heat will then be absorbed by the heat sink. Using the fan, which spins at rate of 6200 RPM, disperse the heat form the heat sink making it cooler.

How well does it cool your phone? Firstly, let's look at how well does it handle the heat from the phone is when it's running a benchmark test, the phone that was used was Black Shark 3 Pro.
The table below shows the resultant temperature before running the test.

Without Cooler With Cooler The Difference
CPU 35.7°C 31.9°C 3.8°C
Battery 42°C 35°C 7°C

The resultant temperature at the end of the test. This is going to be the most likekly temperature when you are playing a mobile game.

Without Cooler With Cooler The Difference
CPU 37.8°C (+2.1°C) 32.3°C (+0.4°C) 5°C
Battery 46°C (+4°C) 38°C (+3°C) 8°C

This is a very good tool to squeeze every drop of performance from your phone as possible and stop it from thermal throttling. As seen on the table above, it is not just a gimmick it really does cool your phone down, even if it means just cooling it down by around 5°C to 8°C.
This is a big product and if you are planning to use it on a phone which is not particularly big, you might feel discomfort when holding the phone because there will be little space for your fingers on the back.
